One Response to “Train From Chiang Mai to Bangkok – Rail Timetables and Fares”

  1. The overnight sleeper train is great, even in the comfy 2nd class sleepers, it’s dirt cheap and actually takes less time than flying as you leave central Bangkok in the evening arriving Chiang Mai next morning. There’s one at 18:10 arriving around 07:45, another at 19:30 or so arriving around 09:25. You’ll see some great scenery after sunrise approaching Chiang Mai, and of course the train itself is a genuine Thai experience with it’s comfy sleeping berths and departure from the magnificent Hualamphong station, designed by an Italian architect brought in by the Euro-philemon King of Siam and opened in 19:16.
